Flexographic Ink Technician

Reports to: Technical Director

Location: Wrightstown, WI

Shift: 12-hour shifts, 5:00am-5:00pm, 2-2-3 schedule

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Flexographic Ink Room Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient production of high-quality inks that meet the demands of our customers. The Ink Room Technician will work closely with production staff to maintain ink inventory, mix and adjust ink formulations, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the printing process. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong understanding of the flexographic printing process. Tend to printing press in a safe manner to produce a quality product with minimum waste that meets the customer’s specifications and needs. Run a variety of jobs from 1-8 colors. Participate in all functions associated with the operation of converting equipment. Assist with required setups and changeovers on machine centers as required.

JOB DUTIES

· Stage ink according to schedule

· Put away all returned ink.

· Manage ink inventory.

· Color match on press (make-ready)

· Match colors to customer specifications

· Manage color computer.

· Remove wastewater accordingly.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area.

· Manage and organize job folders, samples, and orders.

· Color approval on all jobs

· Manage press side chemicals.

· Maintain drums on dispenser stocked.

· Maintain the cleaner drums.

· Transport ink to and from loading dock to ink room.

· Tend to ink at press-side during press runs.

· Check quality specifications and maintain quality throughout press run.

· Safely and accurately produce printed substrate per order requisition.

· Fill in on presses when/where needed.

Position Qualifications

· Previous experience in the flexographic printing process and ink chemistry.

· Excellent color perception and ability to match colors accurately.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Willingness and flexibility to work a variety of shifts that involve all days of the week as needed. This includes ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as determined by the business.

· All other assignments assigned by management.

· Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. (Such as machine operation instructions, safety instructions, etc.)

· Experience using basic tools including wrenches, hammers, utility knives, screwdrivers, brooms, and measuring devices in rules and scales, etc., used in a manufacturing environment.

· Forklift and clamp truck certification a plus.

· Experience in warehousing/shipping environments is helpful.

· Basic math skills

· Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written communication skills).

· Able to work independently, follow instructions and be self-motivated.

· Able to work as an effective team member.

· Able to stand for extended periods of time during the shift, excluding break periods.

· Able to push rolls with roll jacks and lift 50 pounds or more semi-regularly.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
